Book Review:

Pre-reading Thoughts:

I'm going to be honest. I did not like the first book that much and I really hope that this book will change my opinion on both the author and the series. Please note that I have received this book in exchange for an honest review. In no way has receiving this book affected my opinions on it. All opinions are my own.

Writing Thoughts:

The beginning of the book really threw me off because at first I thought I would have to read through the same writing as in the first book and I didn't know if I could handle that. I was surprised to find that the writing got a whole lot better. It was no longer choppy and awkward. It now held some kind of flow that just made digesting the story a lot easier. It is only now where I see why people love this book. I really didn't like that I had to wait for the second book to enjoy but as the saying goes, better late than never.

Plot Thoughts:

The plot unfolded so slowly. In the first book, it started off slow but it slowly began to get a momentum going. I felt that none of that happened in this book. It was super slow and when things did happen to unfold it felt too late and by then I didn't really didn't care what happened to the characters and all of the 'interesting' little bits.

Character Thoughts:

There are characters I love in books, there are characters that I do not like at all. But in this book, I felt absolutely nothing for the characters. They felt a lot like a means to an end and I wasn't really interested in what would happen to them.

Final Thoughts:

I DNFed (did not finish) this book at 25%. I really thought that I would like this book a little bit more than the first book but I was sadly mistaken. This book and series just wasn't for me. Perhaps it was because I had high expectations, I honestly do not know. I did sorta enjoy what I read but not enough to like it even a little bit or to continue the book.

Yours in Reading,

Melleny
